SYNOPSIS

Tita is passionately in love with Pedro, but her controlling mother forbids her from marrying him. When Pedro marries her sister, Tita throws herself into her cooking and discovers she can transfer her emotions through the food she prepares, infecting all who eat it with her intense heartbreak.

Storyline

In a forgotten Mexico village Tita and Pedro fall in love, but their marriage is forbidden as to traditions. Mother Elena sees Tita's role as her caretaker for life - no youngest daughter has ever married and her daughter will not be the first to break tradition. Tita's heart breaks when her mother offers Pedro her sister instead of her, and he accepted it just to live near Tita- he says. Now they live in the same house, and mother Elena cannot forbid their love as she did their marriage.

巧克力情人片名含義

單從字面上解釋，片名即為「恰似水之於巧克力」; 然而片中（書中）並未出現以巧克力為線索的橋段。事實上，「Como agua para chocolate」是墨西哥的一句諺語，描述暴跳如雷的憤怒，抑或血脈賁張的情慾--此處顯然是取了第二種意思。 最初，在拉美國家，熱巧克力的沖泡方法是將磨碎的可可豆，水，葡萄酒和辣椒混合在一起泡開。後來西班牙的殖民者忍受不了辛辣的口感，加入糖用甜味作為緩和。直到巧克力傳入英格蘭，人們在開始加入牛奶，將其作為飯後飲品。如此便不難理解水與巧克力的混合為何能夠詮釋憤怒或情慾了。

巧克力情人 (墨西哥電影)

 「巧克力情人」（西班牙語：Como Agua Para Chocolate），香港譯作「濃情朱古力」，墨西哥電影。上映於1992年，譯自墨西哥作家勞拉·埃斯基韋爾於1989年發表的同名小說，即被譽為「美食版《百年孤寂》」的《恰似水之於巧克力》。

本片與小說同樣在墨西哥受到極大歡迎，獲得墨西哥Ariel大獎的十個獎項，其中包括最佳影片，成為墨西哥一百部最佳電影中的第五十六名。

《巧克力情人》在美國上映後，票房亦獲得佳績，成為美國當時最賣座西語電影。

本電影於香港影藝戲院上映長達288天，是墨西哥電影在香港最長映期的紀錄。

Synopsis

A modern Mexican classic of magic realism provides the basis for The Royal Ballet’s new full-length work, reuniting Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon with the creative team who transformed Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Winter’s Tale into dance, composer Joby Talbot and designer Bob Crowley.

The ballet is inspired by Laura Esquivel’s novel – a captivating family saga where the central character’s emotions spill out through cooking to influence everyone around her in startling and dramatic ways. In this co-production with American Ballet Theatre, Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra also acts as musical consultant for Talbot’s newly commissioned score, and Wheeldon has worked closely with Esquivel to reshape her richly layered story into an entertaining and engrossing new ballet.

故事簡介

皇家芭蕾舞團全新作品以墨西哥近代經典小說為創作藍本，駐團編導Christopher Wheeldon再度與『愛麗絲夢遊仙境』及『冬天的故事』創作團隊合作，並由Joby Talbot編寫配樂及Bob Crowley 設計舞台。

《濃情朱古力》芭蕾舞劇取材自Laura Esquivel同名小說 – 女主角感情豐富，但卻因為生活及家庭而受到壓抑，唯有透過烹飪抒發，以一道道的菜餚呈現細膩的感情起伏，由此展開故事，帶出墨西哥人血脈中的熱情拉丁文化。

是次作品與美國芭蕾舞劇院聯合製作，墨西哥指揮家Alondra de la Parra 身兼配樂顧問。而Wheeldon亦跟Esquivel緊密合作，把故事豐富而複雜的層次以芭蕾舞姿展現出來，為觀眾帶來充滿娛樂性的新製作。
